  • Input and output are based on the transliteration scheme provided on the search page.
  • Meanings of roots with prefixes are listed along with the prefix, not under the root alone, e.g. आ-गम् will be listed under 'aagam', not under 'gam'.

  • Output can be in either Devanāgarī or Roman transliteration.
Conversational Words/Phrases: http://www.spokensanskrit.org/
  • Input and output can be in either Devanāgarī, Roman transliteration, or the site's transliteration scheme.
  • Useful for searching conversational phrases.

  • Look up Sanskrit words in several dictionaries and references
  • Download dictionary files here, install in application by selecting Edit > Dictionaries > Add (locate folder) and check off "Recursive"

Grammar

Noun Declension and Verb Conjugation: http://sanskrit.inria.fr/DICO/grammar.html
  • Input and output can be in several scripts and schemes (default transliteration scheme here)
  • Noun Declension: input noun stem (i.e. as listed in a vocabulary list or dictionary), output is a declension table.
    Notes: If output is selected as 'Devanagari', case names will be in Sanskrit (प्रथमा, etc.).
    If output is selected as 'Roman', case names will be in English (Nominative, etc.), note that 'Vocative' appears after 'Nominative'.
  • Verb Conjugation: input verbal root and class, output is several conjugation tables and other verb forms.
    Notes: If output is selected as 'Devanagari', tense/mood names will be according to traditional grammar (लट्, etc.).
    If output is selected as 'Roman', tense/mood names will be in English (Present, etc.).

  • Scroll to "Search for atomic inflected forms" at the bottom of the page
  • Enter inflected form (i.e. noun with case/number ending, verb with tense/person/number ending, etc.) and select appropriate word type (i.e. noun, verb, etc.)
Sandhi Formation: http://sanskrit.inria.fr/DICO/sandhi.fr.html
  • Input is in several scripts or schemes, output is in Devanāgarī and Roman transliteration (default transliteration scheme here)
  • Select 'External' for sandhi between two words, select 'Internal' for sandhi within a word (i.e. between a stem and a prefix or suffix)

  • Select text input as 'Sentence' and 'Sandhied'
